Victoria - Spectacular Lily
Victoria trickeri. An interesting member of the water lily family that is characterized by enormous leaves, often six feet across and edges stiffly erect to the height of three to eight inches. William Tricker introduced this plant in 1894. The foliage is light green with purple undersurfaces. The entire under structure of the leaf and stems are covered by thorns. The flowers are enormous, opening a creamy white the evening of the first day, and closing the middle of the morning. On the second day the flower opens about four o'clock in the afternoon and is colored a deep pink. The fragrant flowers smell very much like ripe pineapples. It can be grown in the large or medium sized pools. The plant is a very fast grower and if given the correct growing conditions will rapidly become a spectacular site in any water garden pool. Euryale - Gorgon Plant

Euryale. Also known as the "Gorgon Plant" which is native to India. The leaves grow from two to three feet in diameter of a distinct green showing blood red veins with many sharp thorns along the top and bottom of the leaves. The flowers are about two inches across of a mystical blue-violet color. The flower is very attractive and unusual. The plant can be grown and enjoyed in smaller water gardens by planting in smaller containers such as the medium crate.
