Comanche - Hardy Water Lily
Comanche - Hardy Water Lily

Comache. One of the finest changeables and proudly upholds itself well above the water surface. Flowers open a rich apricot and then changes to a deep coppery bronze. The plant is very prolific and was developed by the famous world hybridizer Marliac in 1908. It is difficult to describe the effect of these blossoms standing in stately splendor above a field of brown-patched olive green leaves. It is a fitting centerpiece for any pool, either medium to large and does well in limited sunlight, but requires a large container of soil. Tricker has been offering this variety for decades and for decades the beauty of such a plant can still be enjoyed by all. You will be extremely satisfied with this choice.

Fire Opal - Hardy Water Lily
Fire Opal - Hardy Water Lily

Fire Opal. (syn Opalisque) After years of blooming and growing at Tricker's nursery, we are introducing a most spectacular water lily that will be great for any water garden pool. It closely resembles and has many characteristics of M. Marliac's 1908 Odalisque or also known as Opalisque by Charles Masters during his association with Tricker's in the 1930s. Our staff referred to it as Fire Opal because of the wonderful flower description of pinks and orange and relative identification with Opalisque and thus introduced it under that descriptive name. It has a wonderful glow of yellow to orange-pink color in the many stallate petals which can be described of as a peach color. The flower typically rises upwards to 4-5 inches above the water level, similar to the tropical water lilies and as commonly seen in many of Marliac hybrids and specifically noteworthy of Opalisque. This allows the sepals to bend downward similiar to the tropical water lilies making an attractive sight. It can also withstand higher temperatures than other water lilies and is winter hardy. It is a profuse bloomer and opens early in the morning. One of the first to bloom in the year and the last to produce blooms in the fall. A most spectacular water lily!

Arc-en-Ceil - Hardy Water Lily
Arc-en-Ceil - Hardy Water Lily

Arc-en-Ceil. This is perhaps one of the most unusual hardy water lilies and is known for its rare lily pads, having blotches of bronze, white, rose, and purple scattered on the deep green pads. The name alone is French for "rainbow". Flowers are sweetly scented, pale salmon-pink in color, shading to white. Sepals are rose splashed. The plant was introduced by the famous French hybridizer Marliac in 1901, however decades later it was lost to the trade. Our good friend and water lily expert Walter Pagels found this very lily in an obscure place during a visit in Japan. Thanks to Walter we are able to continue to offer such a rare water lily from his finding. Limited Supply.
