Azolla
Very small floating plant, often called fairy moss, with tiny scale-shaped leaves. It provides a thick lacy velvet carpet of floating bluish-green or, in the autumn a brilliant crimson congested foliage that is very beautiful. An interesting characteristic of Azolla is that it has a mutual living relationship with alga that "fixes" or prepares nitrogen from the atmosphere for the tiny plant as food. Per Portion.

Floating Leaf Flower
Interesting floating plant that produces a beautiful red-green coloration. The small floating leaves appear as clay roofing tiles with reddish margins. Very attractive small flowers are produced on this unusual floating plant. Attractive and rare reddish dangling roots. As it floats in your water garden pool it will derive nutrients from the water. Floating Fern
(Ceraratopteris pteridoides). A fern floating on the surface of the water with a dense rosette of leaves. The leaves have a wavy margin and are egg-shaped to triangular and can have 3 to 5 lobes. The plants are easily propagated because they form plantlets on many of the leaves. The feathery roots hang down 8 or 9 inches into the water and provide a spawning medium for fish and a place for the fry to hide.

Neptune's Crown - Floating Plant
A wonderful floating plant that will grow across your water garden pool. The plant will develop beautiful maroon floating bulbs similar to the floating water hyacinth that are striking against the green foliage and produces dainty white flowers. Water Hyacinth
Water hyacinth (E. crassipes major) has shiny dark green leaves, the stems aer expanded into pseudo bulbs, which serves as air chambers. Propagation is by means of runers at the surface and has long, bushy roots which are excellent for the receiving spawn of goldfish. It will flower more frequently if the roots are touching soil.

Water lettuce (P. stratiotes) or Shell Flower is a floating plant with shell-like rosettes of pulpy and hairy leaves that are spirally arranged around the axis. The long white feathery rootlets dangle in the water.

X Large Salvinia
X-Large Salvinia. (Salvinia oblongifolia). This X-Large salvinia is a very interesting plant which floats on the surface of the water. It has dainty "roots" that dangle into the water which are excellent for spawning of fish. Each segment grows about 3 quarters of an inch long and remains in clusters adding a wonderful colorful addition to any pool. Duckweed
Duckweed (Lemna minor). Very small, perennial green plants with simple plant bodies. Among the floating plants, Duckweed is probably the best for your goldfish or koi as food.
