Attraction - Hardy Water Lily

Attraction Water Lily. This 1910 Marliac hybrid has one of the largest blossoms of all the hardy water lilies. It is rated among the worlds greatest water lilies and received an Award of Merit by the Royal Horticulture Society. Flowers are a glowing red, petals are tipped with rose and flecked with white. Stamens are of a rich mahongany tipped yellow and sepals are white wit tracing of rose. Descriptions of the blossoms vary, especially since the flowers become deeper red in color and more striking with age. Gloriosa - Hardy Water Lily

'Gloriosa' Hardy Water Lily is one of the biggest sellers among the hardy water lilies. The famous M. Marliac produced this hybrid in 1896 and was given the Award of Merit by the Royal Horticulture Society. Blossoms are brilliant red with sepals variegated externally with rose and green. Stamens are colored a reddish orange. Cutting flowers for decorative purposes indoors seems to stimulate their continued production. The blossoms have a pleasant odor of apple blossoms. The plant is suitable for tub gardens or small pools and is able to grow in partial shade. It is one of the best flowers to keep the deep red coloration in the petals in hot and cooler weather. Froebeli - Hardy Water Lily

Froebeli Water Lily. In 1898, Mr. Froebeli's work on hybridization resulted in the attainment of a most beautiful dark wine red or blood red flowered water lily which is one of the best reds for a small pool. Flowers are a medium size, very fragrant, plentiful, and with yellow stamens of bright vermillion with yellow anthers. Leaves are marbled and reddish at their margins. The plants are easy to grow and are very desirable in smaller pools and ponds.

James Brydon - Hardy Water Lily

James Brydon was developed around 1900 in Philadelphia and was given the Award of Merit by the Royal Horticulture Society. This fine American variety was named in honor of one of America's splendid gardeners and good friend of William Tricker. Blossoms have an overall color of deep red, watermellon color with a metallic sheen. The flowers are cup shaped, and with a fragrance resembling that of sweet apples. Stamens are dark orange, brightly tipped with contrasting yellow. It is easily grown and will actually succeed in partially shaded pools of most any size. James Brydon is truly a variety that stands in a class of its own and will make a wonderful addition to your water garden pool. Conqueror - Hardy Water Lily
A Marliac award winning prolific variety introduced in 1910. The Award of Merit by the Royal Horticulture Society was given in 1912. The large flowers have a brilliant red coloring flecked with white. Can be used in small or large water garden pools showing wonderful coloration.

Ellisiana - Hardy Water Lily
Developed by Marliac in 1896 and received the Award of Merit by the Royal Horticulture Society. It has small blossoms, but its brilliant red coloration with a center of deep purple make this water lily quite outstanding. It is considered by many to be one of the most brilliant reds, actually intensifying with age. A colorful addition to the red group of water lilies.

Sultan - Hardy Water Lily
Blossoms are large, cherry red, shading to a deeper color at their base. Petals are tipped and flecked white. The plant is a prolific bloomer, vigorous grower, and does especially well in small places. It is a 1910 creation by the famous French hybridizer Marliac.
