Live Duckweed
Live Duckweed
Living Duckweed (Lemna minor), a small floating plant, is highly recommended for fish. They truly love it! Duckweed is considered a vegetable for the fish and is extremely healthy in a fishes diet. The roots of the Duckweed attract other nutritious microscopic foods for fish. Duckweed is a small floating aquatic plant. Fish just can not get enough of this nutritious diet. It acts as a tonic for the water and as a food for the fish. The fish consume the duckweed rapidly. It is high in protein and has vital minerals and vitamins for the fish. Provides excellent protein and fiber in the fishes diet. It is known that duckweed protein has higher concentrations of the essential amino acids, lysine and methionine, than most plant proteins and more closely resembles animal protein in that respect. It also has trace minerals and pigments, particularly beta carotene and xanthophyll. It has also been reported that the nutritional requirements of fish appear to be met completely in ponds receiving only fresh duckweed. Just place a portion of duckweed on the surface of the water and watch the fish feed.

Laguna Pond Aeration Kit - Winter, Spring, Fall, Summer
When you visit our Tricker's nursery's fish department, one thing is obvious, there is a mass amount of air bubbles in ALL fish tanks! There are THREE excellent reasons to use this aerator as stated above.

1. It's main benefit is providing aeration of the water for use by the live aquatic organisms (fish, snails, crustaceans, etc.). This is VERY important in the summer when the water is warmer and the demand of oxygen increases. Tub Gardens, if they contain fish, are recommended to have this aeration device if the water is subjected to increased temperatures.

2. The "good" bacteria in the water garden pool depend upon air. The "rotten egg" smell that is associated with stagnant water is produced by bacteria that can live in water that is oxygen void.

3. This kit can also be used with Pond Heaters or Pond De-Icers (optional, purchase separately) or alone as an aerator. This kit will prevent the build up of ice to allow the noxious gases to escape during winter and in addition will provide air into the water.

The Pond Aeration Kit includes the aeration pump, air stone (1" cube), airline tubing, and a styrofoam float for adjusting airstone depth. The syrofoam float can be omitted if attached to the pool heater as indicated in the photograph or just submerged.

And, in all respects the fish LOVE to 'play' in the bubbles! They JUST love bubbles! A welcome and vital addition to any water garden pool!

Little Giant Pond Air Pump. When you visit our Tricker's nursery's fish department, one thing is obvious, there is a mass amount of air bubbles in ALL fish tanks.

This is a pond air pump that can go into the water garden pool or be placed outside of the water garden pool, thus weather resistant. 30 foot cord and includes the air tubing and diffuser. Uses only 5 watts of energy. Produces 80 gallons of air/hour. Can be set up to 3 feet deep.

There are THREE excellent reasons to use this aerator as stated above.
