Tricker’s has a fine collection of Pure White Flowered Hardy Water Lilies that have endured many decades of beauty. Richardsonii Water Lily, first double flowering produced in the 1890s, was a marvelous addition to this group and was hybridized here in OHIO along with M. Marliac, the French hybridizer that produced some of the most beautiful water lilies in existence today! They are extremely hardy and can all withstand sub zero winters under ice and snow cover. They are wonderful varieties that just grow and bloom profusely.

Gladstone - Hardy Water Lily
Gladstone - Hardy Water Lily

Gladstone. Considered the King of the Whites, surpassing all of the other lilies in size and freedom of bloom. Famous water gardener George Richardson of Lordstown, Ohio introduced this lily from his establishment in 1894 and it was given the Award of Merit by the Royal Horticulture Society. The plant flowers very profusely and with a rather sweet fragrance . Leaf stalks are striped brown, dark green leaves circular and large, and stand out of the water when well established. Flowers are pure white and cup shaped. Stamens appear as clusters of gold threads. It is a vigorous grower.

Richardsonii - Hardy Water Lily
Richardsonii - Hardy Water Lily

Richardsonii. This was the first double white hardy water lily in the world and was introduced in the 1890's by the noted George Richardson of Lordstown, Ohio, from his establishment near the current location of Tricker's. Flowers are perfect cup-shaped, numerous, pure white and most beautiful. World famous Marliac's establishment in France sold this water lily, a true test of worthiness from an American hybridizer. Marliac White. Introduced by the world famous Marliac and received the Award of Merit by the Royal Horticulture Society. The white flowers with yellow centers are very fragrant. Hal Miller - Hardy Water Lily

Hal Miller. Has a very large creamy white blossom and is an excellent blooming plant. It was a cross between Virginalis (pure white) water lily and Sunrise (yellow with long stems) water lily. This magnificent hardy does well in semi shade.

Virginalis. The famous French hybridizer, Marliac developed and indicated to many to be one of the largest hardy white flowers in existence. Blossoms are sometimes close to a foot in diameter, fragrant and pure white with a yellow center.

Gonnere - Hardy Water Lily

Gonnere. This Marliac, world famous hybridizer, hybrid has blossoms with broad petals being snow-white in color and are very numerous (sometimes more than 85) which appear narrow. Stamens are canary yellow, sepals olive-green and the whole blossom is cup shaped. An unusual white flowered hardy water lily.
