Home | Blue Tropical Water Lilies
Bagdad. The flowers are wisteria blue, broad and flat, gold centered with yellow stamens and petioles just long enough to hold them above the floating leaves. Leaves are of medium size, light green above and with blotches of red and brown, and dark green with beneath with purple stripes. George Pring, in 1941, described this wonderful lily as "The combination of leaf and flower gives a rich effect, something like that of a Persian rug". It is a good propagator and viviparous. Without a doubt this water lily stands out among the blue flowered water lilies. Many hybridizers have always claimed Bagdad as one of the best achievements of George Pring.
