Floating Fern (Ceraratopteris pteridoides). A fern floating on the surface of the water with a dense rosette of leaves. The leaves have a wavy margin and are egg-shaped to triangular and can have 3 to 5 lobes. The plants are easily propagated because they form plantlets on many of the leaves. The feathery roots hang down 8 or 9 inches into the water and provide a spawning medium for fish and a place for the fry to hide.
