Gladstone. Considered the King of the Whites, surpassing all of the other lilies in size and freedom of bloom. Famous water gardener George Richardson of Lordstown, Ohio introduced this lily from his establishment in 1894 and it was given the Award of Merit by the Royal Horticulture Society. The plant flowers very profusely and with a rather sweet fragrance . Leaf stalks are striped brown, dark green leaves circular and large, and stand out of the water when well established. Flowers are pure white and cup shaped. Stamens appear as clusters of gold threads. It is a vigorous grower.
