Water Poppy (Hydocleys nymphoides). A beautiful aquatic with thick oval, floating, deep green leaves and handsome three petaled clear yellow flowers resembling a poppy. The flowers have dark black stamens. Since the flowers are a wondeful clear yellow, the dark black stamens show off in a most attractive manner. The plant is very free-flowering and most prolific. William Tricker in his famous 1897 "The Water Garden" book shows a picture of this plant. He has written that the Water Poppy has "cheery yellow flowers". If you grow it, we are sure you will agree.
