Water Sprite

Pond Water Sprite (Ceratopteris thalictroidesis) is a true water fern and a very attractive plant. The blades of the leaves are deeply incised, which are green and flat. Survives in deeply shaded places as well as direct sunlight. Having a poor root system it derives nutrient mainly from the water, thus a good purifier of the water. This feature is excellent in keeping the pool or aquarium water pure. Seen in the photograph is the plant as it emerges from the water making a very attactive sight. Prohibited in CA.
