American Beauty was developed by George Pring in 1941 from the water lilies Tricker's William Stone and the species Colorata.

The blossoms are reddish pink, lemon chrome color at the center, and held high above the surface. The large leaves are round and bright green on top with brilliant red with green veins beneath and a wavy margin.

See the tab below to witness this wonderful red coloration on the bottom of the pad that George Pring wrote about in the introduction of American Beauty in 1941. It is a real "American Beauty!"

BACK of PAD Characteristic of American Beauty
American Beauty Water Lily
.

This water lily was hybridized by George Pring of the famous Missouri Botanical Garden. In his first description he included the red backing on the pads of this spectacular water lily. Some special water lilies have a corresponding color on the back of the developing pad that can be found in the flower, and no better example is American Beauty.

This is the American Beauty that you will receive from William Tricker, Inc. ALSO, note the beauty of the venation of the pads, George Pring was pround of this too!
