The beautiful Emily Grant Hutchings water lily is a red hybrid was named after the wife of the secretary of Tower Grove Park, St. Louis, Missouri.
The striking amaranth red coloring of the blossom is cup shaped and 10 to 12 inches in diameter. Its pads are relatively small compared to other night bloomers. This night blooming water lily grows well above the water's surface.
Some botanists say this is the brightest colored water lily cultivated today.
Hybridized By: George Pring in 1922

William Tricker (born 1853) started his commercial water lily culture in the United States in the late 1800's when he started hybridizing water lilies and studied what helps their growth. The shape, colors and hardiness of his beautiful aquatic plants have withstood the test of time.
In the early 1890's, he earned a reputation as a leader in aquatic lifeforms from hybridiing many water lilies. His water lily nursery and company, in both Ohio and Pennsylvania, was passed down tthrough his family until the 1980's when Richard Lee purchased the Ohio company. In 1892, the first William Tricker mail-order catalog was mailed to customers across the nation, and we still do, today.
A Message to Our Customers
Like other stores, recent events have affected Tricker's including supply lines and employees. Our Team Members have been working as quickly as possible to handle your order. Being short-handed, the propagation of plants and animals has been affected. Tricker's has an energetic crew with new members who are learning all aspects of the company from how to grow the aquatic plants to packaging and shipping to you.
The store in Independence is closed to walk-in traffic because Tricker's brick-n-water store has very limited space to accommodate people. Renovations of the historic site have further limited the space.
Everyone here at Tricker's Water Gardens appreciate your patience during these trying times in our history. We have, and still are, adjusting to accommodate customers. Thank you for understanding and have a very safe and exciting year.
