'Independence' waterlily is a viviparous hybrid developed by famous hybridizer Robert Sawyer of William Tricker, Inc® and introduced in 1927 which was named after our city. Aromatic blossoms are rich pink, medium size, and extremely abundant. Leaves are green shaded with browish red. The plant is a compact grower, adapable to tubs or large pools. This lily has been used in hybridization by hybridizer George Pring of the Missouri Botanical Gardens with excellent results. Independence does well in semi-shade conditions as well in full sun! Makes excellent cut flowers.
