Jack Wood water lily was introduced by John Wood in 1972. The petals are a very unusual raspberry color with butter gold centers. The ruby stamens add a delightful color combination to this lily! Click on the 2nd image of Jack Wood and see these wonderful ruby stamens. The pads are a distinct olive green, and with the raspberry flower color make a very attactive display in any water garden pool. It is a very profuse bloomer that will bloom continuously through the summer months well into the fall. The original Jack Wood water lily came to Tricker's from Jack Wood himself, who was a well known as a water lily hybridizer that did his water lily hybrids from California. Of all the hunreds of hybrid water lilies, this very water lily was choosen to be on the front cover of the historical and well noted book Encyclopedia of the Water-Lily by Charles Masters who was a frequent visitor of William Tricker, Inc.® for years. Grow Jack Wood Water Lily today, and see why it was selected to be on the book cover of a historic book that was selected among all the beautiful water lily hybrids described in the book.

William Tricker (1853-1916) started commercial water lily culture in the United States in the late 1800's. He began experimenting in hybridizing water lilies and what helps their growth. The shape, colors and hardiness of his beautiful aquatic plants has withstood the test of time.

In the early 1890's, hybridization of water lilies gave him a reputation as a leader in aquatic plants. He established a water lily nursery and company in both Ohio and Pennsylvania that were passed down to his family until the 1980's when Richard Lee purchased the Ohio company. In 1892, the first William Tricker catalog was mailed to customers across the nation.
