Botanical Name: Eichhornia crassipes major
The Water Hyacinth has shiny dark green leaves with stems that are expanded into pseudo bulbs to serve as air chambers. They propagate from the runners at the water's surface. Goldfish love to spawn on the long bushy roots. The flowers help to purify the water. You will see many soft rosey-lilac flowers in the compact growth. It flowers more frequently if the roots are touching soil.
Prohibited in AL, AR, AZ, FL, SC, LA, MS, TX, WI, PR. Consider the Nepturnes Crown, which also has floating bulbs.
